The history of Kverneland dates back to 1879 when the founder, Ole Gabriel Kverneland, built his small forge in the village of Kvernaland near to Stravanger, Norway. He started out manufacturing scythes and knives, which gained a reputation for steel quality, but soon developed activities in farming equipment. Among harrows and other horse draw implement were Kverneland’s ploughs, which were incomparable balanced and durable, and provided the heritage the company was built upon. In 1972, Kverneland launched the worlds first reversible plough with automatic stone release (auto-reset) – this marked a decisive step and the KV plough became an icon.
Over time Kverneland has combined forces with other prominent agricultural machinery manufacturers; Accord, Taarup and Siloking – to diversify and form what it is today. It’s latest offering is a strong and extensive product range embracing many different farming types and applications to give an unparalleled choice of machinery. The wide range includes forage harvesting and feeding equipment, ploughing equipment, soil cultivation, seeding systems, and fertiliser spreaders. All equipment features Kverneland’s superior parts technology – they have stayed true to their metal forging roots and have even developed their very own grade of steel for use with certain wearing parts, which undergoes a unique process of heat treatment to ensure the optimum strength to weight ratio.
Kverneland is one of the best known and respected brand names in the business; world renowned in producing ploughs with outstanding performance, longevity and low operating costs. These credentials extend across their entire range of equipment as each machine shares the same active product development and effective production processes. Thanks to over 125 years of experience and innovation, Kverneland products are able to meet your needs both today and in the future.
